Day 123 - Skulls & Anaesthetics (25/01/2018)

CBL first thing once again, brand new case, brand new me (and everyone else). We had a much more structured approach today and really seemed to gel well - I'm so glad we're back on track, as the last couple of sessions have really felt like a drag. We established our core learning areas right at the beginning and focused down as much as possible. It feels like we're getting better at synthesising information from multiple areas too, and task delegation was much more smooth. We're getting there.

A set of lectures on the structure of the skull, meningitis and the pharmacology of anaethesia followed - all very interesting, but it's very clear that a lot of rote learning is going to have to happen. The content in this block comes so thick and fast, but I'm starting to get more used to slimming down to the areas that are clinically relevant and generating memory devices more quickly to condense and consolidate the material.

A few of us went out for dinner tonight to unwind a bit - both because we're now halfway through the block and because we had some 2-for-1 vouchers. Delicious and cheap - the ultimate pairing.
