Hardcore revision did not start today. My colleague and future housemate requested that I accompany him to hospital to gather data for his second case report (which I have still not written up!). I was happy to oblige and we spent most of the day there, fumbling our way through exams and gathering relevant information through the patient records system. Once again the patient (and his family) were happy for us to do what we needed to do, and we took care to explain what we were doing at each stage.
I'm always surprised by how willing patients are to be subjected to our attempts - I was apprehensive about a student nurse giving me a jab before starting the course and would still be reticent about another medical student (that I didn't know well) doing it, despite recognising the importance of giving opportunity to practice.
