Year 2 Day 4 - Arrhythmia (13/09/2018)

Arryhthmias very much the topic of today - lectures on the cardiac conduction system and the clinically relevant arrhythmias we might see on the wards, things like atrial fibrillation, Wolf-Parkinsons-White syndrome, ventricular tachycardia etc.

The two lectures in the afternoon on medication and anticoagulation were actually pre-recorded for us as the lecturers could not be present, so myself and my housemate took the opportunity to head to occupational health at UHCW and start our Hepatitis B immunisation courses. We haven’t been able to have either HepB or TB due to national shortages of the vaccine, a little disconcerting given that we’ll be spending a lot more time on the wards after the winter break and won’t be immune to either by then.

We celebrated being brave boys by having coffee and cake, and chatted to the nurse giving the injections about our starting on the wards soon and asked for venepuncture tips, something we’re being taught quite soon.
